I see no reason for us to have pages on every election for the post of Minister, mostly for two reasons. We know very little about each election other than approximate years and the winning candidates. Secondly, we don't even know for certain which Ministers were actually elected, as Pottermore tells us Ministers can also be appointed without a vote in "times of crisis". In fact, at least two of the already created pages (the original appointment of Gamp and Shacklebolt) cover "elections" we know didn't happen. I think the safest course of action is to stick with this one hub page, rather than creating pages on possibly non-existent elections. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 18:51, December 4, 2014 (UTC)

Correct (1337star forgot to mention Scrimgeour's "election", which Half-Blood Prince tells us also didn't happen) -- these articles are speculative and misleading at best. The only Ministers we know for sure were elected were, according to Pottermore: Damocles Rowle in 1718 ("Rowle was elected..."), Eldritch Diggory in 1733 ("... the wizarding community... voted [Perseus Parkinson] out at the first opportunity"), Hector Fawley in 1925 ("Undoubtably voted in because of..."), Ignatius Tuft in 1959 ("... capitalised on his mother's popularity to gain election"), and Kingsley Shacklebolt in 1998 ("... Shacklebolt was subsequently elected to the office.). Additionally, Order of Phoenix tells us Cornelius Fudge was also voted in, in 1990 ("... when he was elected Minister for Magic five years ago."; Order of the Phoenix, Chapter 10). This is backed by the Daily Prophet Newsletters, which add that his campaign slogan was "A Fair Deal for Wizards Who Deal Fair with Muggles".
Ministers we know for sure were appointed and not elected: Ulick Gamp in 1707, and Rufus Scrimgeour (1996). Pius Thicknesse was likely also just appointed. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 22:17, December 4, 2014 (UTC)
I support the suggestion to merge the individual texts about the several elections in wizarding world which have happened throughout history to "Elections for British Minister of Magic" text. I suggest to move the individual texts to the principal text and organize the moved texts in subtopics. Andre G. Dias (talk) 07:46, December 11, 2014 (Brazil)

Appearances, Notes and references[]

Does anyone knows where the informations in this text are took from? I suggest to add to the text Elections for British Minister of Magic the topics "Appearances" and/or "Notes and references" with informations to explain where the informations in this text were took from.
