Being?

Is it just me who thought the Dream Messenger was the token itself, rather than a being who put the token there? It made more sense to me that the token would sort (or "select") students (meaning they might not be sorted at all, but there isn't enough info to say anything for sure) by sending messages in their dreams, hence the name. --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 14:00, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

I actually do think it is a being (or spirit perhaps) since it is the Dream Messenger - according to me that is - that leaves a token. I think the convincing argument is that it is a "messanger" and if the token would be one and the same as the dream messenger it should be called a dream message.. As to the sorting, I see this as an typical Anglo-American phenomenon and do not think sorting would be common practice in all of the eleven Wizarding Schools.. Of course, please correct me if you think I made any mistake in my deduction! LeviosaJinx1267 (talk) 18:11, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

I thought the Dream Messenger (should it be the token) would send dreams or thoughts to the child (dream messages), rather than the Dream Messenger who sends the token. Either way, I think a compromise is in order: not specifically calling it either a being or a token. Something like:
"A Dream Messenger is the method by which students of Uagadou School of Magic are selected.".
That way it leaves it open to interpretation. Perhaps canon (Pottermore?) will reveal the true definition to us in time. --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 18:14, August 24, 2014 (UTC)
Changes to the article have been made, your arguments are indeed quite valid, and only canon can reveal which way of thought was the correct one. Thank you for making such clever notes, it only adds to the truthfulness of the article! LeviosaJinx1267 (talk) 19:51, August 24, 2014 (UTC)
Thank you in turn; I'd never even considered any other possibility, and it's always refreshing to open my eyes to new ideas :) --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 20:33, August 24, 2014 (UTC)
