Canon[]
Is the use of this book in the 1995–1996 school year considered canon, because in the book, another textbook is used. However, I suppose it is possible that this book was used alongside without being mentioned in the book, but because it is not mentioned or depicted in the book in anyway, is its usage canon?--RedWizard98 (talk) 16:23, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say no. They just took the name of the chapter in the book and made it a book for whatever reason, the proper name is Defensive Magical Theory. Book over movies if it contradicts, that's the policy, right? Tfoc (talk) 16:38, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
- The existence and use of this book as a(n additional) teaching material by Umbridge is not contradicted by the existence and use of Defensive Magical Theory. -- Seth Cooper owl post! 18:56, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, you are correct Seth, I just thought it would be a good idea to raise the question anyway.--RedWizard98 (talk) 23:54, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
- Not necessarily. The film shows Dark Arts Defence - Basics for Beginners being handed to the students by Umbridge, not being bought by them as part of the necessary supplies list, as Defensive Magical Theory is in the book. -- Seth Cooper owl post! 19:15, October 3, 2020 (UTC)
