Dumbledore's Quote on Crouch Jr. at the Top of Page

GOF Dumbledore on B. Crouch Jr.

Dumbledore's quote. - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling.

Apparently my source (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Page 708, Chapter 36, The Parting of the Ways) is not credible enough for this page. I adjusted the quote to what it is actually, at least in my edition of the book (I have the American version, and although I am aware of some differences between the American perfect aspect and the British perfect aspect, I see no reason for the discrepency in this instance). To me (but a speaker-of-a-colloquial-American-English American), it seems unlikely that the perfect aspect would be used, considering Crouch Jr. is no longer capable of making something of his life. Additionally, it seems unlikely that Dumbledore would specify Crouch Jr.'s "own life", considering he is not contrasting it with any other person's life. Finally, I doubt that Dumbledore, what with his impeccable linguistic skills, would neglect the proper past participle of "to choose" (chosen), and opt for a more colloquial, grammatically incorrect "chose". If I receive no response, I shall make my edits. If I am proven wrong, I shall recede. AlastorMoody (talk) 00:11, August 29, 2013 (UTC)

I see nothing about any change on the Lexicon's list of differences, which would lead me to think you are correct. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:35, August 29, 2013 (UTC)
