I'm curious, if it isn't a basilisk until the chicken egg hatches under a toad, then wouldn't be technically remain a chicken egg until such time?! I realize that it's cannon to call it a basilisk egg, it was just something that caught my attention. --BachLynn23 16:47, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
- Until it's hatched by a toad it is, yes, a chicken egg. One thing that comes to my mind is that as basilisk eggs begin as chicken eggs, the creatures most likely cannot interbreed and create fertile offspring. Yea, that's true, I'm not sure what it would be classified as. I mean, if it were real in our world, it would be like a scientific experiment, clearly genetics would be involved on some level, but not something that occurs naturally in nature. As far as what it would be classified in the wizarding world, I mean someone has to intentionally place a chicken egg under a toad to get a basilisk, so chances are they know what they are doing. --BachLynn23 18:54, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
