Spelling[]

I have a question. In the article "Automobile" is spelled: a'utomobile'. Why that? What does that mean?  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 20:35, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

I assume it was some sort of coding error. I fixed it. -- 1337star (Owl Post) 20:46, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. As english is not my native language, I was not sure if it was right or not.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 21:02, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

AMERICAN[]

we don't call them 'automobiles', we call them CARS. Can someone change the page and everything? 92.30.174.87 21:41, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

That will not happen, because this Wiki uses british terms, because the author of the books is british.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 21:48, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, Wiktionary (while not the most reliable source in the world) claims that "automobile" is, indeed, mostly an American word. Perhaps a U.K. native could advise what would be the best title? Automobile, car, or perhaps even motorcar? -- 1337star (Owl Post) 21:55, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Then, I think, it would be the best to ask Cavalier One. He is Admin and british. So he would be one who could tell us best.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 22:07, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

I'm British, that's what I was trying to say, we say car, not automobile! 92.30.143.197 22:15, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

and not 'motor car'... this isn't the 1920s... 92.30.143.197 22:16, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

O. k., I understand. But then there is the question of a renaming of the whole article from Automobile to "Car". Who is to decide that?  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 22:21, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
Are you absolutely sure "automobile" isn't used in the UK? I mean, I always thought "car" was a more causal term and "automobile" was used in a more formal/technical situation. I'm not British, mind, and I might be wholly wrong. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 22:50, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

So, apparently my library subscribes to the Oxford English Dictionary. It appears to support the points brought up by our lovely anons from across the pond: "automobile", in the sense of being synonymous with car, is listed as being "chiefly North American". I think that should settle the matter. -- 1337star (Owl Post) 23:23, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

As long as the UK editions of the books never refer to "automobiles" (which, given your research, I don't doubt), I'm fine with moving this article under "Car". --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 23:38, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery year 7 appearance[]

Hi, is it known where or when cars will be taught in Muggle Studies in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, since an icon of cars was added to Muggle Studies on the Year 7 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery page? Thanks. RedWizard98 (talk) 20:53, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
