I removed the link of JK Rowling site, on the ocupation of Mrs. Figg, because the link is now inactive (the site is now a kind of a timeline, and practically all the old contents were also removed).
Sorry for my bad English.
For all the times Harry goes to Mrs Figg's and never sees or hears mention of a husband, for all the times the Dursleys talk about Mrs Figg and never Mr Figg, it seems Mrs Figg is either divorced or widowed. At least where I live, it is a common stereotype for widows to have many cats and to live alone, only going out at night. Although it turns out these "cats" are actually half-Kneazle, it still might be a subtle hint. This, coupled with her being part of the "old Order" suggests, at least in my mind, that she lost her husband (perhaps to the Death Eaters, but this would be speculative?). Thoughts? --Hunnie Bunn (talk) 17:46, November 30, 2013 (UTC)
- The possibility exists, and that is already noted on the article. Of course, we cannot say with any certainty if that is the case - Arabella Figg might even have been part of a household staff (i.e. housekeepers, cooks, and nannies) who can also be referred to as "Mrs" regardless of marital status (however, this usage is rare nowadays, as is having household staff to begin with). -- 17:57, November 30, 2013 (UTC)
