Question about Behind the Scenes
Somebody wrote that Harry had never read a History of Magic and sort of grazed through it, but I don't remember that being said in the books. I thought it was Hogwarts: A History that he had never read?

- It is stated several times in the series that Harry never paid much attention in History of Magic and Hermione chides him Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for not recognising Godric's Hollow as being Godric Gryffindor's birthplace, this being something that is described in A History of Magic. We know that he read at least a little of it when he first became a wizard because he got Hedwig's name from it and he also perused it when writing his essay about witch-burnings. But other than that, not so much. ProfessorTofty (talk) 15:34, April 27, 2013 (UTC)
If the book was written about significant events from the beginning of time to the 19th century, why didn't it have anything on Nicolas Flamel? After all, it seems like the likely place the trio would have started looking for the name; it was a school textbook, much more easily accesible than a book from the Restricted Section. If they had looked through it, why didn't they find Flamel's name in here? Regulus A. Black (talk) 07:47, June 18, 2013 (UTC)
