Tabby Cat is any cat that has a distinctive coat that features stripes, dots, lines or swirling patterns, usually together with a mark resembling an "M" on its forehead. Tabbies are sometimes erroneously assumed to be a cat breed.^[1]

Tabby Cat is one of several species of cats available at Magical Menagerie on Diagon Alley. One can purchase it for 9 Galleons.^[2] Minerva McGonagall, former Transfiguration teacher and Headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was an Animagus that could morph into a Tabby Cat.
