A "Support Harry Potter" party was hosted in March 1998 by Rubeus Hagrid in his cabin in attempt to undermine the regime of Lord Voldemort and Death Eaters and show appreciation for Harry Potter, who was a friend of Hagrid's and seen as a symbol of everything for which those who opposed Voldemort's regime were fighting. The only known attendants were Rubeus Hagrid and, most likely, his dog Fang, who lived with Hagrid in his hut. If there were any other attendees, they were not implicated.
Soon after the party, those affiliated with the Death Eaters' regime attempted to arrest Hagrid. They were unsuccessful as Hagrid escaped, with the aid of his giant half-brother Grawp, as it was noted that "it helps, when escaping from Death Eaters, if you've got a sixteen-foot-high half brother." Hagrid's escape was reported by Remus Lupin on Potterwatch, who was impressed by Hagrid's spirit, but cautioned listeners that such parties were "unwise in the present climate." Lee Jordan agreed and advised listeners to instead "continue to show your devotion to the man with the lightning scar by listening to Potterwatch." Hagrid later revealed to Harry Potter that after his escape he and Grawp stayed in the Cave near Hogsmeade where Sirius Black once hid and where he himself had hid following his escape from Dolores Umbridge.
