- Arthur Weasley: "I don't know whether you know what — what stitches are?"
- Molly Weasley: "It sounds as though you've been trying to sew your skin back together, but even you, Arthur, wouldn't be that stupid."
- — Arthur and Molly Weasley in St Mungo's[src]
Stitches were a Muggle remedy for various wounds, which involved sewing bits of skin back together.[1]
History[]
A boy named Robbie Fenwick once bit Mr Granger, a dentist. This happened when Mr Granger was checking the boy's teeth. Mr Granger had to be sewed with ten stitches.[2]
When Arthur Weasley was brought to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after he was attacked by Nagini in December 1995, Augustus Pye, a trainee Healer, suggested trying stitches to heal Arthur's wounds, as they could not find any magical methods of sealing the wounds at the time. This attempt ended up fruitless, as Nagini's fangs had a poison in them that dissolved the thread. When Molly Weasley found out due to Arthur's bandages being changed earlier due to the attempt at stitches, she became livid.[1]
