Professor Stephen William Hawking (b. 8 January, 1942) was a Muggle theoretical physicist, internationally considered the best since Albert Einstein. He had Lou Gehrig's disease for at least twenty years, and confined to a wheelchair because of it. One of his works, A Brief History of Time, was also read by some wizards who had an interest to know the Muggle views on Physics.[1]
Etymology
The name "Stephen" comes from the Greek name Στεφανος (Stephanos) meaning "crown".
Behind the scenes
- Stephen Hawking was portrayed by Eddie Redmayne, who will portray Newton Scamander in the upcoming film adaptations of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in the film The Theory of Everything. Redmayne won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Hawking.
