A snowball is a compacted sphere of snow and ice, usually thrown at others in play. During winter of the 1991–1992 school year, Fred and George Weasley bewitched several snowballs to folllow Professor Quirrell and bounce off the back of his turban. Although they didn't realise it, they were actually hitting Voldemort in the face.
Behind the scenes
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry hits Draco Malfoy and his gang with snowballs outside the Shrieking Shack. In the novel, he throws mud instead.
- In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Draco Malfoy makes an igloo and uses it as a tank to shoot snowballs at the player. The tank is located in the same spot where Malfoy's gang was attacked by Harry in the third film with snowballs. Draco also curses a giant snowman on High Street to throw snowballs at a wizard in red leaving Dominic Maestros.
