Snape: Scoundrel or Saint? is a biography of Severus Snape written by Rita Skeeter. It was written sometime after Snape's death on May 2, 1998, during the Battle of Hogwarts and given the speed with which Skeeter turned out one of her other sensational profiles of a former Hogwarts headmaster, The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, may have been published as early as June 1998. Skeeter apparently penned the book despite public efforts by Harry Potter to clear Snape's reputation.[1] In keeping with her previous books it appears to be a hatchet job, and probably did Snape's reputation no good at all.
