Snakeweed is a magical plant. It is sold at one of the apothecaries in Diagon Alley, thus it is presumably used in potion-making.[1] It is also used in the making of snakeweed tea.
One could buy jars of Purest Extract of Snakeweed at The Diagon Dispensary.[2]
Behind the scenes
- Snakeweed (Polygonum bistorta) is one of the forty members of the Polygonum genus, like knotgrass. Because knotgrass may refer to several species of Polygonum, the two are easily confused. Snakeweed, commonly known as Bistort, was used traditionally to treat ulcerative sores and stomach ailments and was also an ingredient in a springtime pudding in Northern England.[3]
