Skiing is a sport using skis as an equipment, as the skis are attached to the boots. Hermione Granger was supposed to go skiing with her parents in 1995, but decided at the last minute to cancel and instead spend the Christmas holidays at 12 Grimmauld Place. Skiing is not known in the wizarding world, as Ron Weasley thought strapping thin strips of wood to ones feet and sliding down a hill was very funny.

Behind the scenesEdit

• In the film adaption of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when Hermione and Ron were in Hogsmeade and looking at the Shrieking Shack, Draco Malfoy broke into their talk and insulted them and Ron's family by asking them if they were looking for their new home and saying that the Weasleys lived in a single-room house. By this Harry Potter, wearing the Cloak of Invisibility, threw snowballs at Draco and pulling him out past the wooden fence that blocks people from getting near the Shack. To this, Ron asked if Draco had lost his skis.
