This letter was written by Sirius Black to his godson, Harry Potter, sometime in June 1995, but somewhat before 24 June, the date of the third task of the Triwizard Tournament. The letter stated, possibly amongst other things, "If Voldemort is really getting stronger again, my priority is to ensure your safety. He cannot hope to lay hands on you while you are under Dumbledore's protection, but all the same, take no risks: Concentrate on getting through that maze safely, and then we can turn our attention to other matters."[1]
Behind the scenes
Edit
- It is stated that Sirius Black was sending "daily owls" with letters to Harry in June during the run-up to the third task, reminding him that what was going on outside the walls of Hogwarts was not his responsibility, nor was it in his power to influence. This letter, however, was the only one for which any of the exact contents were revealed.
