The Silver Arrow was a broomstick produced by broom-maker Leonard Jewkes, and was the true forerunner of the racing broom. It was capable of speeds greater than the Oakshaft 79 or the Moontrimmer, it can up to seventy miles an hour with a tailwind, so it was very fine for that time, but Leonard worked alone and demand outstripped supply. It was eventually replaced by the Cleansweep series.[1]
Known owners[]
- Madam Hooch, flying instructor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learned to fly on a Silver Arrow. She reminisced on her days when Silver Arrows were good and compared Harry's Firebolt to her old Silver Arrow.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Silver Arrow was probably named after the first Muggle-made racing cars, Silver Arrows in the 1920s, which was a forerunner to the ones produced today.
- Harry Potter: Magic Awakened misspells the broom as "Silver Arrows".
