Severus Snape's portrait is an animated painting that hangs in the Headmaster's office of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry of Severus Snape.
As Headmaster of the school during the 1997–1998 school year, Severus Snape had the right to have his portrait hung in the office; however, because he was believed to be a Death Eater, the public did not want his portrait to be hung. The public also did not want Severus Snape's portrait hung as he seemed to abandon his post as Headmaster. Fortunately, for Snape, Harry Potter was aware of Snape's deep loyalty to Albus Dumbledore and convinced the Ministry to place Snape's portrait in the Headmaster's office. As such, his portrait was hung along the ones of the past Headmasters by the time Harry's children began to attend school.
