The Selection Committee is a panel of Prefects and/or Heads of House that is in charge of Sorting the first-year students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry into one of the four Houses.[1]
Behind the scenes

- This board of Sorters was one of the first ways of Sorting students J. K. Rowling considered. This idea did not, however, make its way into canon, as the Sorting Hat was chosen in its place.
