Known uses

• Hermione Granger used this spell on the Half-Blood Prince's copy of Advanced Potion-Making.
• It was also used during a sixth year Potions class, to reveal the ingredients of a poison.

Etymology

Latin specialis, "particular; individual" and revelare (present tense revelo), "unveil". Altogether the incantation may read as "[to] reveal the particulars [of]".
