Salt water is any water in which salt has been dissolved.[1] All of the world's oceans, including the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Pacific Ocean contain salt water, as do inland seas and some lakes.
Salt water was an ingredient in a curative solution used to treat scale rot in dragons, along with tar and white spirit.[2]
In the traditional wizarding tale "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot" from The Tales of Beedle the Bard, the titular pot filled with salt water to represent a baby's tears after the son of the pot's original owner refused a request to heal a grievously ill baby.[3]
