Salt water is any water in which salt has been dissolved.[1] All of the world's oceans, including the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean contain salt water, as do inland seas and some lakes.

Salt water was an ingredient in a curative solution used to treat scale rot in dragons, along with tar and white spirit.[2]

In the traditional wizarding tale "The Wizard and the Hopping Pot" from The Tales of Beedle the Bard , the titular pot filled with salt water to represent a baby's tears after the son of the pot's original owner refused a request to heal a grievously ill baby.[3]
