Salamandra is the publisher of the Harry Potter series in the Spanish language.

Salamandra bought the publication rights of the saga on 2000.

Alicia Dellepiane and Dolores Avedaño

In March of 1999 [1], Salamandra published Harry Potter y la Piedra Filosofal. It was translated by Alicia Dellepiane, and the cover artist was Dolores Avedaño.


Adolfo Muñoz García/Nieves Martín Azofra and Dolores Avedaño

In October [1] of the same year, Harry Potter y la Cámara Secreta was published; in April, 2000 [1] Harry Potter y el Prisionero de Azkaban did; and Harry Potter y el Cáliz de Fuego was published in March, 2001 [1].Adolfo Muñoz García and Nieves Martín Azofra were the translators of these three books, and Dolores Avedaño made the cover.

Alicia Dellepiane returned in 2001 [1] to translate Animales Fantásticos y Dónde Encontrarlos and Quidditch a Través de los Tiempos. The cover artist was Richard Horne in both books. He did the cover for this books in the Bloomsbury edition, and colaborated in the making of the cover of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (the Bloomsbury version).


Gemma Rovira Ortega and Dolores Avedaño

Gemma Rovira Ortega replaced Adolfo and Nieves Martín, and translated Harry Potter y la Orden del Fénix, Harry Potter y el Misterio del Príncipe, Harry Potter y las Reliquias de la Muerte and Los Cuentos de Beedle el Bardo. Dolores Avedaño illustrated again each of these books. They were published in 21 February, 2004 [1]; 23 February, 2006 [1];21 February, 2008 [1]; and in December, 2008 [1]; respectively.

Behind the scenes

  • In this version of the second book, the name is Harry Potter y la Cámara Secreta, which means Harry Potter and the Secret Chamber. In the book, however, its called Cámara de los Secretos, the correct translation.
  • The sixth book's name is Harry Potter y el Misterio del Príncipe, which means Harry Potter and the Mystery of the Prince.
