Rune-Sign Language was a non-verbal manner of communication that Dark Wizards developed during the Second Wizarding War in the 1990s. It consisted in making specific hand gestures to represent a certain sequence of Runes.[1]
As it was not in widespread use, as the Ministry of Magic noted in one of their Wizarding Public Awareness Notice, it was used by mal-intentioned wizards to "Bamboozle Bonafide Witches & Warlocks!". The Ministry had, however, managed to crack the codes and published Manual M39h-z to aid the wizarding community on that score.[1]
