Cornelius Fudge: "It's very kind of you, Prime Minister, but there is nothing. I was sent here tonight to bring you up to date on recent events and to introduce you to my successor. I rather thought he'd be here by now, but of course, he's very busy at the moment, with so much going on."
Portrait at 10 Downing Street: "He'll be here in a moment, he's just finishing a letter to Dumbledore."
Cornelius Fudge: "I wish him luck. I've been writing to Dumbledore twice a day for the past fortnight, but he won't budge. If he'd just been prepared to persuade the boy, I might still be… Well, maybe Scrimgeour will have more success."
Cornelius Fudge and the Portrait at 10 Downing Street.[src]

This letter was written by Rufus Scrimgeour (then-recently-appointed Minister for Magic) to Albus Dumbledore, sometime in late summer of 1996, in a vain attempt to persuade him to convince Harry Potter to become the Ministry's poster boy. As he was writing this letter, he was late to his meeting with Cornelius Fudge and the Prime Minister.[1]
