The Room of Rewards was a secret room at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that noted students' various achievements. It could be accessed via the portrait of Vindictus Viridian on the Grand Staircase.[1]
History[]
In the 1995–1996 school year, Myrtle Warren showed Harry Potter where the secret entrance to the room was located. Although Viridian's portrait initially refused to grant them access, Hermione Granger persuaded him by telling him that Harry would talk Myrtle into hanging around his portrait regularly. Not wishing to be bothered by the wailing ghost, Viridian gave in to her blackmail and grudgingly allowed them to enter, telling Hermione that she "had a vindictive streak to be admired".[1]
