The Railview Hotel is a gloomy hotel located on the outskirts of the city of Cokeworth, England. It was owned by a woman. On 29 July, 1991, the Dursleys and Harry Potter stayed at the hotel, in room 17, in an attempt to outrun the multitude of letters that persisted to arrive for Harry, summoning him to Hogwarts. The attempt was in vain, as about one hundred letters were delivered to the hotel the following morning.[1] Vernon Dursley disposed of them, then left the hotel, heading for the greater seclusion of a hut on a rock out on the sea.
Behind the scenes
The Railview Hotel is completely left out of the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
