Quietus is the counterspell to of Sonorus, the incantation which amplifies a person's voice. This spell was used by Ludo Bagman at the Quidditch World Cup in 1994. It is most likely that Lord Voldemort used this spell during The Battle of Hogwarts to counter his Sonorus spell.

Etymology

Latin quietus, "calm" or "quiet".
