The psychomanteum was a specialised room used in the practise of catoptromancy.[1][2] It was an enclosed, dimly-lit space outfitted with a mirror, which was angled in such a way that it reflected nothing but darkness.[1]

Janus Galloglass, a mirror-maker in Diagon Alley, had a psychomanteum that its patrons could use.[2]
