Presbyterianism is a denomination of Christianity which adheres to the Calvinist tradition within Protestantism.[1] Originating primarily in Scotland,[1] Presbyterian churches are governed on a local level by a minister and a group of equally-ranked elected elders, and on a regional and national level by courts of ministers and elders.[2]
Robert McGonagall Sr., father of Minerva McGonagall, was a Presbyterian minister with a parish in Caithness, Scotland.[3]
