- "Harry flicked through the first volume eagerly; he could see it was going to be highly useful in his plans for the D.A.."
- —Harry persues the first volume of the books.[src]
On 27 July, 1997, Harry stored a copy of Elphias Doge's Daily Prophet obituary of Albus Dumbledore in his copy of the first volume of these books, throwing the remainder of the newspaper in the rubbish pile.
