The Potter memorial is a statue at the center of the village square in Godric's Hollow. From a distance, it appears as an obelisk, carved with the names of people who died in a war (presumably Muggle casualties of World War I or II). However, when a witch or wizard approaches, the memorial changes into a statue of a family: James and Lily Potter, and their infant son, Harry, who looks contented in his mother's arms. James and Lily were murdered by Voldemort in their Godric's Hollow home on October 31, 1981.
