"Are you a wizard, or what?"

- "Now anyone, even an unusually clever Muggle, could put a few handfuls of ingredients together in the proper order, but it's the last wave of your wand that truly makes a potion."
- — Zygmunt Budge, Book of Potions.[src]
This spell is used throughout the process of brewing a potion, usually to complete it. It manifests as a white light, similar in appearance to lightning, which strikes the surface of the potion several times.[1] Without this spell, no potion can be properly made, which is why Muggles cannot brew them.[2]
Sometimes, an already existing spell can be used to finish off a potion. An example would be the Shrinking Solution, which uses the application of a Shrinking Charm as its final step.[3]
Behind the scenes
- Despite J. K. Rowling claiming that every potion has a "magical component" and requires a wand at some stage, Pottermore and the related Wonderbook: Book of Potions are, as of currently, the only canon sources to depict this aspect of potion brewing.
