"If you have brewed it correctly, then the results should be most interesting. That was worth all the effort. You can go now."
Severus Snape dismissing his class after Harry Potter took this potion[src]

Pompion Potion was a potion that when drunk, temporarily turned the drinker's head into a pumpkin. It was learnt in first-year Potions at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1]

Brewing[]

In order to brew this potion, one had to crush the Flitterby Moth into a pulp and add it to the cauldron, then stir the mixture clockwise until it turned green. Next, the Bouncing Bulb had to be ground with a mortar and added to the cauldron. The mixture had to be stirred anti-clockwise until it turned red before slicing the foxglove and, too, add it to the mixture. Stirring clockwise until it turned orange completed the potion.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

  • During the Wizard Chess Challenge later on in the game, one of the questions asked is to identify the correct ingredient used in this potion. However, both foxglove and a Flitterby Moth are shown. Only the moth is accepted as a correct answer.
  • Given that every potion requires a magical component to complete the brewing process, the most likely spell needed to complete this potion is Pumpkin-Head Jinx.
