- "First-year students will require:[...]
One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear" - — First-year Shopping List for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry[src]
A pointed hat,[1] or pointy hat,[2] was a type of hat commonly worn by wizardkind.[1]
Minister for Magic Hortensia Milliphutt introduced some wearisome legislation, such as hat pointiness, which resulted in her political downfall.[3]
A plain black pointed hat was permitted to be worn during the day by all Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry students as part of their school uniform.[1] Pointed hats were sold at Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions[1] for 3 Galleons and 7 Sickles each in 1991.[4]
