|Petunia Evans' letter to Albus Dumbledore|
|Date of writing|
Petunia requests to be admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
According to Lily Evans, the letter contained not only a request to be admitted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but a beg to be a witch. However Petunia disagreed, stating that she did not beg, but could not deny that she did request a place. Dumbledore kindly wrote a reply letter to Petunia, rejecting the request. She also expressed disgust that she had apparently been snooping in her mail, but Lily indicated that Snape had seen the letter and could not believe that a Muggle could have contacted Hogwarts, leading him to decide that there must be wizards working in the postal service. This, however, only further enraged Petunia, who felt that "apparently wizards poke their noses in everywhere!"
