Peter James Rowling (born 1945 in London) is the father of J. K. Rowling.

Peter James Rowling was born in 1945 to Kathleen Ada (née Bulgen) and Ernest Arthur Rowling[1]. On March 14, 1965 he married his pregnant fiancé Anne Volant. A few months later on July 31, 1965, they had their first daughter, Joanne "Jo" Rowling, who was born in Yate. On June 28, 1967, their second daughter, Dianne "Di" Rowling, was born. Peter worked for Royce-Rolls as an aircraft engine plant. On December 30, 1990, his wife Anne died of multiple sclerosis. On April 2, 1993, he married Janet Gallivan. He has three grandchildren, from his first born Joanne, named Jessica, David and Mackenzie.
