Peter Cartwright (30 August, 1935- 18 November, 2013) was an actor who made hundreds of appearances in television, film and on radio and worked extensively in the theatre, both in the provinces and London's West End. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix he played a wizard, Elphias Doge, a member of the Order of the Phoenix, who, as part of the Advance Guard, assisted in escorting Harry Potter to 12 Grimmauld Place, the headquarters of the Order. Cartwright didn't reprise his role as Doge for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. His character was instead portrayed by David Ryall.[1]
