- "You were seen. Two Muggles in London, convinced they saw an old car flying over the Post Office tower… at noon in Norfolk, Mrs. Hetty Bayliss, while hanging out her washing… Mr. Angus Fleet, of Peebles, reported to police… Six or seven Muggles in all."
- — Severus Snape reads from the Evening Prophet about Harry Potter and Ron Weasley and the Flying Ford Anglia.[src]
Peebles is a burgh in the committee area of Tweeddale, in the Scottish Borders, lying on the River Tweed.
On 1 September, 1992, Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter, were spotted flying a turquoise Ford Anglia by a Muggle named Angus Fleet. This breach of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy was published on the Evening Prophet later that same day.[1]
Behind the scenes
- Glentress Forest, near Peebles, was the inspiration behind the Forbidden Forest. When J. K. Rowling lived in Edinburgh, she would usually go to towns outside Edinburgh like Peebles and the nearby Forest of Glentress.
