The Paved Courtyard is a courtyard located on the Hogwarts Castle exterior area. It is connected to the Viaduct and the Boathouse. In 1996, one of the Weasley twin's Portable Swamps was released here. Gobstones players usually come into this courtyard to play "Snake Pit". It is home to a Talking Gargoyle. The Fourth Floor corridors pass right next to this courtyard. During the 1996–1997 school year, the Slytherin Duelling Club was based here.
[edit] Behind the scenes
- In the movies, it is clearly shown only once in the second film. In that scene, it is a grassy cloister similar to the Transfiguration Courtyard. However, in the first three video games the cloister and the grass disappear and in the fifth and sixth video games the Infirmary tower and the cloister are added.
- In the films that follow Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the fifth and sixth video games, the courtyard has two main entrances (one leading to the Viaduct and the other leading to the Boathouse).
