Etymology
From French Partis is a plural of parti which mean to separate, to go away, to leave or to depart. Temporus [tempōris] refers to time; temporize means to "prolong" a discussion for example in order to gain time or postpone a decision. Also refers to "moment of force" - a force to rotate an object about an axis.
