Olaf was the cousin of Goodwin Kneen and lived in Norway. During the 12th century, he received a letter from Goodwin that described a game of Kwidditch (Quidditch). Due to the historical importance of the letter, it is now on display at the Norwegian Ministry of Magic.
Etymology
The name "Olaf" comes from the Old Norse name Áleifr meaning "ancestor's descendent", derived from the elements anu "ancestor" and leifr "descendent". This was the name of five kings of Norway, including Saint Olaf (Olaf II).
