Norvel Twonk (1888 - 1957) was a wizard who died saving a Muggle child from a manticore. Twonk was posthumously awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class. [1] There was a portrait of Twonk hung at Hogwarts Castle, guarding a secret shortcut between the fifth-floor landing of the Grand Staircase and the Entrance Hall side room. The password required to gain access to said shortcut is Manticore. [2]
