There were battlements facing the north side of Hogwarts Castle.
These battlements were used by the Hogwarts defence during the Battle of Hogwarts. Aberforth Dumbledore led a small group of students into the north battlements, as the Death Eater-allied Giants were breaching their defences.[1]
Behind the scenes

- In the second film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows The Quad battlements and catwalks seem to replace the events at the north battlements. However it is still possible that the battlements appears in the films and games.
