Nocturnal beasts are a class of beasts which are known for sleeping in the day as opposed to night-time. Professor Remus Lupin planned to review this category of beast with his third year class in mid-1993, although Professor Severus Snape started the unit early by teaching them about werewolves when substituting as Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher.
