The New Zealand Ministry of Magic governs the Wizarding community of New Zealand. Based in Wellington, the Ministry has spent a lot of time, effort, and money keeping early Māori art that depicts white wizards playing Quidditch, away from Muggles. All the carvings and paintings are currently on display in the Ministry. The Māori have witches and wizards among themselves named Tōhunga. Tōhunga were wiped out by the British in the Early 1900's. Māori men and women Muggles did not shun the Tōhunga, but sought advice from them in times of dire need. New Zealand were one of the first countries in the world to have a woman be the minister of magic. (Sarah Martin) attended Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry possibly 10 years prior to the time of Harry Potter. She then relocated to New Zealand to work in the ministry and was later that year announced as the first female minster of magic in New Zealand.
