The second wand of Neville Longbottom is 13" cherry wood, with a unicorn hair core.

Neville purchased this wand in 1996 after his first wand was broken by Antonin Dolohov during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. This new wand may have been one of the last wands made by Ollivander before he was kidnapped by Death Eaters.[1] It has been noted that Neville liked his new wand. This is the wand that Neville used at the Battle of Hogwarts, which would mean that this wand was probably used against many Death Eaters.

Appearances

Behind the Scenes

  • J.K. Rowling based Harry's, Ron's, and Hermione's wands off of the wand woods correlating to their date of birth and the Celtic tree calendar. However, as Neville's second wand is made of cherry, J. K. Rowling did not choose this wand based on Neville's birthdate. Like Hagrid's wand wood, it could be based on a symbolic reference to Neville's personality and character.
  • The cherry tree represents death, rebirth, and new awakenings. Likewise, the wand wood chould reflect Neville's character, the "death" of his innocence", "rebirth" as an Auror and hero in Deathly Hallows, and more.
