Nagini is Lord Voldemort's pet snake. Albus Dumbledore suspects that she is a Horcrux. Apparently, she is larger than any known species of snake, so must by the only one of her kind.

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Nagini's venom ("milk") is used to help the struggling Voldemort survive.
She was possessed by Voldemort and attacked Arthur Weasley in the Ministry of Magic in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Harry had a vision of this event, and this is how Voldemort discovered his connection to Harry.
