Merchieftainess Murcus was the leader of the Merpeople who lived in the lake in the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was a ferocious-looking female. Following the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, she relayed Harry Potter's actions at the Merpeople village, and his desire to rescue all the hostages, to Albus Dumbledore. She may have been present for the Merpeople's sendoff at Dumbledore's funeral.
